The In-Active Logout Timer
print icon

Ventures includes a security feature that will log an in-active user out after a specified number of minutes. By default, the time limit is set to 30 minutes of inactivity, you can adjust this setting to fit your needs.

The system will warn you three minutes before it logs you out automatically. A pop will appear with a timer in it.

To adjust how long before the system logs you out a user for inactivity, you will need to be a site administrator.

  • Click on Administration at the top of the page.

  • When the Administration page loads click the "User Access" menu option. From the sub menu that appears click "Users."
  • A grid will appear with all the users in your system. Click the name of the user whose inactivity timer you would like to edit. If you have a lot of users in your system, you may have to navigate to another page of the grid or use the search bar to find them.

  • Once you click the name of the user, the "Edit User Account" pop up will load. In the pop up, use the field labeled "Logout After Minutes" to select how long to set the timer for.
  • Once you make your selection, click Save.

If you are a Site Administrator and want to change your own timer, you can skip the searching for the user step:

  • Click on your name in the top right corner of Ventures.

  • The "Edit Profile" page will load. Use the "Logout After Minutes" drop down menu to select how long before the system automatically logs you out.
  • Click Save.

Multiple Browsers and the Timer

The initial tab will usually be the one that times out first.  If you overlook that tab you could be logged out of Ventures in all your sessions.  Each Browser will have its own timer. Be sure to click on SAVE within the areas you're working in to ensure you do not lose any data.
