Ventures is developing a feature that will enable data export to GL (General Ledger) interfaces. In the interim, lenders should follow these steps to generate the required information for importing into a General Ledger System.
Step One - Run the Cash Receipts (Owner/Participant) report
This report can be generated for any date range and will provide a history of payment transactions within that period. The screenshot below is a subset of the potential fields/data points available for export.
Step Two - Export the data to Excel
Step Three - Inside Excel
Confirm the Unguaranteed portion
This screen displays results from the specified timeframe, broken down by Participant records. It shows the lender’s unguaranteed portion for three loans that had payments during the selected period. In Ventures, the report was grouped by Owner/Participant Name and then by Reference Name. Excel carried this format, listing transactions under each Owner/Participant and further grouped by loan.
Notes:
-
Highlighted in Blue: Mel Tech had a payment reversal, shown as a separate transaction. The total amount reflects the actual funds with the reversal accounted for.
-
Highlighted in Green: Shows the totals for the lender, representing the unguaranteed portion.
Confirm the Guaranteed Portion (Fiscal Transfer Agent)
This screenshot is taken from the same Excel spreadsheet, but it displays the breakdown according to the participation percentage assigned to the FTA.
-
Blue: Highlights the allocation to the FTA for the specific loan shown, matching the loan discussed previously.
-
Green: Represents the total allocation to the FTA across all loans.
-
Yellow: Shows the total for all owners/participants listed in the report.
Step Four - Posting to GL
Using the data from the Excel spreadsheet, follow these steps:
-
Note the totals for each column.
-
Post these totals to the appropriate GL code for the unguaranteed portion.
-
Repeat the process for the guaranteed portion, posting these totals to the corresponding GL code.
Additional Reporting Options
The same report can be generated with Reference Name as the grouping. This view will display both the guaranteed and unguaranteed portions of the loan. Ventures Reports is a versatile report writer that enables you to create custom reports with different views and all data can be export to Excel or PDF
