504 Loan Borrower Injections

504 Loan Borrower Injections can be added directly to 504 loans on the Financing Screen. They have been separated from Borrower Contributions. When your financing information is sent to CAFS, the system will now separate the Borrower Contribution from any Borrower Injections and input them to their relevant fields in CAFS. The Financing screen for 504 loans has been updated to incorporate this.

What is the difference between a Borrower Contribution and a Borrower Injection?

Borrower Contribution: This is the standard contribution by a borrower of a 504 loan. It is typically 10% of the loan total.

Borrower Injection: Borrowers may be asked by SBA or their Lender to inject additional funds to their business as a whole for reasons besides the standard Contribution as described above. There are a variety of reasons the SBA or Lender may require the Borrower to do this (i.e. to meet an equity ratio). These additional funds are Borrower Injections.

Adding a Borrower Injection:

  • In a 504 Loan, click on the Financing in the Overview menu on the left.
  • When the Financing page loads, click the Borrower Injection tab.
  • Click Add. A pop up will appear.

  • In the pop up, use the Funding Type drop down menu to select whether this is a Borrower Injection, or a Borrower Injection that is Borrowed. If you select the Borrowed option, additional fields will appear in the pop up that allow you to enter information covering the terms of the Borrowed Injection Payment.
  • After selecting the Funding Type, fill in the Type field. Select the type that fits the Injection Payment the best. Your Site Administrator can add additional Types if you do not find one that fits your needs.
  • Enter the Amount.
  • Review the information you have entered for accuracy.
  • Click Save.

The pop up will disappear and the Borrower Injection will appear in the Table.

Note: You can only fill in one of the Providing Company and Providing Contact fields. Entering and saving information in one will remove any information in the other. This also applies to the Receiving Company and Receiving Contact fields. If one is filled the other will not contain information.

Deleting a Borrower Injection

  • Navigate to the Financing page of the 504 loan.
  • Click on the Borrower Injection tab.
  • Click the button labeled with an X next to the Injection you want to delete. A confirmation pop up will appear.

  • Confirm you want to delete the injection by clicking the Delete button.

  • The pop up will disappear and the injection will be deleted.
