Bulk Exporting and Importing Loans

The loan file transfer feature allows you to export loans in bulk from your Ventures platform. For example, this can be useful if you work with an external closing attorney on your loans who also uses Ventures, you can export the loan file when you are done working on it and hand it off to your partner to import into their Ventures system and continue working on it. You can export an individual loan from this page, but you can also export individual loans following the instructions in the article here.

The Export feature is one way. This means that when you export a loan from Ventures and hand it off, you will no longer see updates to the loan file in your system. Ventures systems are not connected to each other. This also means that any updates you make to the loan file after the export will not reflect in the export. The export is a snapshot of the loan at the moment you click the export button.

To export a loan file:

  • Click on Utilities
  • Click Loan File Transfer
  • Click Export
  • A list of all the loans in your Ventures system will appear. Use the filtering options and search bar to filter for the loan or loans you wish to export. You can export as many as you need to.

  • Once you find the loans you want to export, select them by clicking the check box in the row for the loan. You can use the master checkbox at the top of the checkbox column to select all records listed in the table.
  • One you have made your selections, click the export button. A pop up will appear.

  • The pop up will ask which parts of the loan files you want to include in the export. The more you choose the longer the export will take. Make your choices and click the export button.

  • The export file will generate. It will be a zipped file. You have the ability to cancel the export if it is taking too long by clicking the cancel button. Once the export file generates it will either start downloading, or depending on your settings your browser may ask you where to save the file before it starts downloading.

  • Do not open the zip file. The zip file is what is used to import the loan into Ventures. Send the zip file to your partner who you are handing the loan off to. They can use the zip file to import the loan to their Ventures system.

Importing loans:

To import a loan that was exported from Ventures:

  • Click on Utilities
  • Click Loan File Transfer
  • Click Import

  • Click the Select or Drop files button to select the .zip file to import it. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the file into the box to start the upload process.
  • When the upload is complete, click the import button.

  • When the process is complete you will see a confirmation message that displays how many imports were successful along with any that were skipped or failed to import.

  • You will be able to access the imported loan form the Loans main menu.

You cannot import a loan that already exists in Ventures.

Note: Some information contained in a note may not migrate over when exported then imported. If Ventures sends an email using the tickler or bulk letter function, along with any attachments, the note record of the email and the attachments will not be populated when imported to a different Ventures instance. A note record with the email and attachments, when exported then imported will not display the entire contents of the email or the attachment. You will only see a note indicating an email has been sent.
