Q: I have an existing principal in Ventures but when I try to add them as an owner in an Entity their name does not show up in the search.
In order to avoid having duplicate contact records in your Ventures database, it's important to assign the existing contact to any new loans or entities where they are an owner. If you have been typing in the name of the contact to assign them as an owner and their name doesn't appear in the Ventures search, one of two things may be happening:
- The contact has been marked as Inactive on their virtual card (i.e. vCard).
- When contacts are marked as inactive, they do not show up in any searches in Ventures.
- Open up the Contact's virtual card either in Contacts or in an existing Entity where they are an Owner; and
- Look for the Active checkbox and make sure that it is checked to show the contact as Active.
- If you are searching by using their middle name or initial.
- The Entities area searches for contacts by First Name and Last Name only. This means that if your principal has a middle initial or name, you should not use that as part of your search.
