Subject: Closing Requests and Loan Applications

Dear Valued Customers and Industry Partners,

SBA recently experienced technical issues that affected our ability to provide the level of service expected by the industry and our stakeholders. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these disruptions may have caused. While we have identified and resolved most of the issues, additional work remains to fully restore normal operations. SBA staff are working diligently to process the backlog of loan applications, 327 Actions, and closing requests.

Please note the following processing updates and expectations:

  • The District Cut-Off date has been extended to Monday, September 14 to allow additional time for the processing of 327 Actions and the review of closing packages.
  • New loan applications will be reviewed on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Requests involving no adverse change determinations may be eligible for expedited processing when necessary to meet an applicable closing deadline.
  • For expedited review of other 327 Actions, CDCs must provide documentation demonstrating financial hardship and confirm that the interim loan is approaching maturity.
  • Please do not resubmit requests or documents unless specifically requested to do so by the SLPC.

To support timely and efficient processing, CDCs should carefully review all submissions before sending them to SBA/SLPC to ensure they are complete, accurate, and include all required documentation. We also encourage lenders to communicate proactively with applicants and third-party lending partners regarding current processing conditions and to establish appropriate expectations. To help us manage the volume of requests efficiently, please avoid submitting multiple status inquiries to the shared inbox or sending the same request to multiple SBA staff members.

We appreciate your continued cooperation as we work to provide consistent service across the industry.
